Vale Antony Upton and John Reader

Sadly another two former students left us in June. Antony Upton (affectionately known as “Chimp”) and John Reader were both contemporaries of mine; John and I were prefects together in 1965/6. He was well regarded by both his peers and (a little unusually,) for his tolerant, friendly approach to his juniors. He had a very successful career in aviation in South Africa. It is hoped that a detailed obituary will be published in Al May’s Newsletter. Antony was a real character who earned a reputation for terrorising spin bowlers. His innings didn’t always last long but they were always memorable! He spent most of his life in Western Australia and succumbed to cancer after battling it for a number of years.
